Last Thursday, 19 of the P7s joined us for our first virtual transition event with Mr Humphris. I will update this blog (as well as Google Classroom) as soon as the details of the next virtual event are confirmed.
As ever, please remember that these are SUGGESTIONS. Feel free to do as much or as little as circumstances allow. On Google Classroom there is a short question for the pupils to answer about how much work I am setting each week. I would also welcome the P7 parents to share their views with me too. If you have particular comments or suggestions to make, or questions to ask, regarding the amount of work set or any particular tasks, please email me at: Kirstine.Mullin@glenurquharthigh.org.uk

A reminder that tomorrow, 8th May is a holiday to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of VE Day. While I’m sure this will not be the usual long weekend for children (all the days merging into one is quite a familiar feeling at the moment) I hope that everyone is able to enjoy some fun time […]
Starting tomorrow, Miss Mullin and Mr Crossland (volunteer) will be using ChessKid.com to run our after school chess club from 3pm-4pm every Tuesday.
Several pupils already have ChessKid.com accounts, so they are automatically members of our online club.
If your child would like to learn or improve their chess by joining our club, please send Miss Mullin an email at: Kirstine.Mullin@glenurquharthigh.org.uk and we’ll get you set up.
ChessKid.com will allow our pupils to learn at their own pace, whenever suits families, but also gives the option of fast, ‘live’ tournaments with our chess club. This week we’ll play whoever is online, but once we have our new members signed up we can try an online tournament, just for pupils at our school.
Our first competition is to see who can earn the most stars between now and next Tuesday (12th May.)
Parents, please see the safety features article and film clip below, plus FAQ documents for the pupils.
Good morning P7s and families! I hope you are all well.
This week sees our first “Virtual Transition” event: a question and answer session with Mr Humphris from Glen Urquhart High School. This will take part during our usual Class Video Meeting on Thursday at 12noon. We’re hoping that as many of the P7s as possible will be able to attend. Mrs Woodhouse and Mrs Brown will be joining us in coming weeks too.
P7s, please remember to register every day by 11am.
Parents: please can you ensure that your child joins us for emotional check-in (via our Class Video Meeting) at least once per week. If this will cause any difficulties, please email Mrs Laird: kerrie.laird@glenurquharthigh.org.uk
Highland Council guidelines are that you should aim to do 25-30 minutes per day of maths, reading and writing, with as much time spent on physical and creative activities as you want!
You DO NOT need to do EVERYTHING on your Chrome Book ~ use your maths pack, jotters, paper and pencil for any activities you wish.
See below for a great challenge which you may wish to take part in while at home. FDF Scotland has designed a Lockdown Lunch Challenge to help young people, parents and their educators and carers better understand what our industry is all about, including; where our food ingredients come from, how they are produced and […]
Due to my husband working in Drumnadrochit today, he was able to deliver many of the leavers hoodies as a wee surprise for P7s today. Don’t worry if you didn’t get yours – those he was unable to deliver today have been posted and you should receive them in the next few days. A few of you have been in touch about the apple green hoody and I know this looks slightly different from the sheet. Unfortunately, we have no control over this and I have fed this back to the supplier. We are also unable to order more or different ones due to them going through in a batch specific for our school.
I hope you get some fun from wearing them, even if it is around the house. I’d love for you to send me a photo of you wearning them so that I could create a wee gallery for your blog page as a reminder too. My email is kerrie.laird@glenurquharthigh.org.uk

This week staff have been discussing the best way of recording attendance. Today I had it clarified from Highland Council that we need to keep a daily attendance record. Staff feel that the best way to do this would be for the already set up Google Classrooms for P4-7. These have also been established for […]
