P7 have already raised over £40 this evening, by serving teas, coffees, homemade lemonade and home baking at The Budapest Café Orchestra concert at the Craigmonie Centre. This will help to buy extra fruit & snacks for our common room at Loch Insh next week.
Huge thanks to the parents (& siblings) who baked &/or lent a hand!
UPDATE: The total amount raised last night (and in the staffroom today) was £88.05, meaning that we now have £105 in our common room fund.
We are so thankful for the support shown by our parents and the wider community. Thankyou to you all / Merci à vous tous / Taing dhuibh uile
Class newsletters have been emailed out to parents. Some P7 asked for hard copies ~ hopefully you should have received them by now! If you haven’t received yours, please email the school: Glenurquhart.Primary@highland.gov.uk A copy has also been posted below.
P7 have already visited Glen Urquhart Public Library on two Tuesdays this term and are enjoying a wide range of written and audio texts for pleasure.
We try to choose three texts each time we visit: one fiction, one non-fiction and one free choice. We can take one of our books home at a time.
The library have kindly helped Miss Mullin out by lending us several recipe books for our food project. Many thanks!
This week, we have been using our Chromebooks to create our own piece of writing. Between us, we are creating recipes, reports, recounts and a range of different stories. Miss Mullin is looking forward to reading them all!
Yesterday morning, pupils from P5/6 and P7 were invited to join the Gaelic class to watch Hub Hab, a Gaelic drama performance. We really enjoyed it!
Last week we enjoyed a drama workshop led by Louisa from The Dramabox. We started off playing a circle game called “Whoosh!” We had to listen carefully and react quickly to stay in the game. We also discussed improvisation, and how this can only work if everyone involved responds positively as well as creatively (2 of our school values!) Louisa demonstrated how to do this with one of our brave P7s.
Last Friday we all had a go in class. We had to start off with the line: “Excuse me, is this your beetle?” As you can see, some of us really got into character! 😉
During our Wednesday Wraparound Spelling session, we have been revising common nouns and proper nouns. Ask us to explain the difference between them!
Last Wednesday, we worked in pairs to sort nouns into the two types.
