Badminton

This afternoon in PE we practised badminton rallies with Miss Mullin. We had to be quite careful and think about how to make it easier for our partners in our school hall – it felt quite different compared with playing badminton at Glen Urquhart High School.

Price checking!

It looks as though we are going to need lots of shopping bags next week!

On Friday (15th November) some of our P7s visited the Scotmid to check their prices for the ingredients that we need to buy to make Stovies.

Yesterday, the P7s worked in their cooking groups to figure out how much we will need to spend at Scotmid if we buy all the ingredients for 5 cooking groups. Next week we will use this information to work out the cost per portion.

Rocky Road Recipes

Last Tuesday and Wednesday, the P7s worked in their cooking groups to make Dairy Free Rocky Road. Thanks to Mrs Russell’s help and advice, it was a success and we all enjoyed a piece on Wednesday playtime. We all agreed that the trickiest part is bashing up the biscuits – you want to end up with chunks of biscuit through the mixture (not powder) but it’s so tempting to use the rolling pin a lot! After being involved with making it, the P7s wrote up their own individual versions of the recipes last Wednesday (13th November.)

Le petit déjeuner en France

This term, we have been learning about food and drinks in French. We spent the last three weeks learning about breakfast items. Ask us to name some of the things we have for breakfast!

Last Tuesday morning, the P7s started their school day by tasting some things which are really popular to have for breakfast in France: croissants, pains au chocolat and madeleines.

Which one did your child like best?

RME: Kosher Food

As part of our learning about food and religion, we have been learning about religious rules about food in the Jewish faith.

We worked in pairs, using our Chromebooks to research different questions about Kosher food. We found out that there are over 5,000 Jewish people living in Scotland, mainly in the Glasgow-Edinburgh area. There are very few places which offer Kosher meals, other than in Glasgow. We discussed how useful it would be for people who work in shops, cafes and restaurants to understand what Kosher food laws are all about.

Ask us to share what we remember about Kosher foods.
